The last six months have seen us prep our home for sale and put on the market in late November. Just before Christmas we accepted a purchase offer and the sale went 'unconditional' last week.
So we looked and could not find a place that ticked all the boxes. In the end we opted to build a new house and are soon to start on that adventure. The build should take about a year.
We have also sought out and secured a rental property to live in while our new place is built.
In the coming week(s) we will sign a contract to build our new home and move to the rental... so it has been/still is a busy old time in Avon's world.
First off a belated happy new year to you. I hope this finds you well
and that 2026 has got off to a good start for you.
I've been largely inactive for the last several months and can see a lot Av> of messages in echomail etc. to try and catch up with in the weeks and Av> months ahead.[Life happens, Avon's building a house and apologizes!! To *US*?!?!]
I just wanted to drop this note into FSX_GEN and FSX_NET echomail areas
to let you know that I'm still about, not planning on leaving the BBS scene
In brief...
Lordy we have too much stuff at our place :)
Ain't that always the truth at every move.
Good luck!
The short version is work and home life continues to be challenging.
I'm sorry for the lack of responsiveness.
If you're needing a node number suggest using ClrgHouz at this time.
Will update again when I know more.

Hi there
It's been a bit of a torrid time, if things could go wrong with the proposed house build it has. The company we paid a deposit to advised
us three months later that they could no longer do our house build and were exiting from the franchise of the group building company we had selected plans for and spent months on setting up fittings for the
planned home.
At the time we were told we had been renting for three months having
sold our family home to fund the new build and planned on being out for
12 months. It's now just over four months since we signed our contract
and have nothing to show for it, not even the final plans that should
have been sent off for approval to build over two months ago :(
We're now in the process of finding a new company to do our house build while working with lawyers to recoup damages from the builder we signed with initially.
So apologies to many folks who have emailed me but not received a reply
or who have dropped me a note on Agency or via netmail and met with a similar silence... it's (as you would appreciate) a stressful and busy time for my family as we try to navigate a way forward that will work
for our budget and circumstances.
I think once we can sort out a new builder / contract / feeling like progress is 'finally' being made... then I can spend time on fsxNet and the BBS hobby.
If anyone is wanting a node number please sign up with either NET 3 or
NET 2 and Deon or Todd can allocate you something for now.
Best, Paul aka Avon

My thoughts, and well-wishes go out to you, Avon, in your struggles.
Keep going and let it work out. Stay focused on what is best on you and yours. The Net ill get taken care of.
Kudos to Deon and Todd for picking up the slack during this trying time. Great job for keeping it all working.
I wish you the best luck going FORWARD - and that that happens for your family soon. Don't stress too much about BBSing and fsx; you don't need
it atm!!
Glad to hear an update and only send my best, rockstar.
Oh good grief! Hope things make a turn for the better and less-frustrating soon!
Sorry you're having so many issues, it sounds horrible. We are wanting
to add on to our house -- you're giving me the second thoughts :D
Sorry to hear about what's been going on now it all makes sense I had no clue you had a family death then this mess with the new house and so on for the last 12+ months it seems you have just had some serious bad luck
I hope everything improves soon and the winter here in CHCH isn't as
cold as you guys get in Dunedin so stay safe and keep warm.

Thanks Mike :)
I'm eating way to much comfort food at the moment, but still
keeping sane.
Be careful there. I know from past experience that is a good way to
put on pounds... or kilograms! :D
