This is a game I'm working on.

Immortal Barons is a turn-based strategy game for the terminal. You rule a barony in a ruined, post-apocalyptic
world. You buy land, feed your people, build an army, and fight rival empires. The goal is to have the highest
net worth when the turns run out, or to conquer everyone else.

The game is written in Go. It is an independent remake, inspired by the 1990s BBS door game Barren Realms
    Elite.

Early work in progress. Immortal Barons is not ready for real play-testing or inter-BBS (IBBS) play yet.
    Mechanics are still changing.

Sounds very interesting. Keep us up to date on your progress, in particular when it is ready for "live" BBS testing.

Will it support winsockets? That seems to be the trickiest part for door developers...

Sure... I setup a Mystic BBS today and added it as a door. Worked pretty well.

As for when it's ready for "live" testing, do you mean when all the known bugs are worked out? It's playable now, but some of the math may be off. Pretty soon, I'll need more feedback about that. And there's a couple dip options that haven't been implemented yet. Basically if you're just curious, you might want to set it up as a door (https://andy5995.github.io/immortal-barons/door-setup/) and play a few turns. Otherwise, I'll certainly remember to post here when it's more developed.

As for IBBS, I haven't done enough testing on that to say it's even test-playable yet, so I wouldn't suggest to testing that yet to anyone (unless you're a developer thinking about contributing).

Thank you for the question! This is my first door and I hadn't given that any thought. I've implemented it but don't have a live Windows BBS to test it on. Some info about winsock support for Immortal Barons at https://andy5995.github.io/immortal-barons/door-setup/#how-the-game-talks-to-th

    it out and your results.

Sorry I think I read something wrong and had the impression that you didn't really think it was ready for others to be installing yet. ;) I am curious enough that I will try to grab a copy in the next couple of days.

Not your fault, I think I wasn't too clear. So... I would say it's not ready enough for regular players. They may find very unwanted design problems after a few days into a game. At this point, if a sysop is curious about the game and wants to try it for the purpose of reporting bugs, general feedback, UX problems (I do look and test for these myself so they should be rare at this point), then I would encourage installing Immortal Barons as a door that's not visible to other users. For players who are curious, I would say, give it a try, but don't plan on having a long game yet.
