    Hi sodalis,

    I don't remember if this question went around many years ago, but here I am again: some of you are using a client to access the BBBS message base, and edit, answer, enter messages, and so on?

    Currently, I am doing it through the BBBS's web interface (and there is no problem) but I would like to explore new possibilities.

    I've just remembered that once was the BlueMail message editor... but, do you know if there are some other alternatives?

    A reveure!!

    One way is with a QWK or BlueWave offline reader.

    I use MultiMail and it has served me well for years.

    BBBS supports QWK and BlueWave (and others), I use BlueWave for mat when it is available and QWK when it isn't.

    There are a few but I like bluemail and set the grab format to bluewave. It used to be able to directly read the BBBS message areas but that no longers seems to work, well on my Pi's

    I think someone once mentioned adding BBBS to GoldEd but that never seems to have gone anywhere.

    I use bluemail on my Mac and have lzrssz or whatever it is set to auto download from my bbbs (or any bbbs) on iterm

    :-m Ah, yes. With my SysOp account, will be ok... (I'm a little afraid to dust off my old BlueWave knowledge...)

    Multimail as a QWK/BW processor? Or accessing directly to the BBBS message base (like GoldED to JAM bases)?

    I've noted your suggestion. Thank you! ;-)

    I will check it (I will let you know if I succeed).

    I think this is a major feature... I don't know if the maintainers are alive... >I use bluemail on my Mac and have lzrssz or whatever it is set to auto downloa

    This will be my last option. As you and Alan said to me, my last option will be the QWK/BW door... Thank you anyway.

    No, MultiMail is an offline mail reader, it needs either QWK or BW packets from a BBS.

    You need to either telnet to a BBS that supports offline mail or some times you can use FTP. When you use ftp the filename is always grab, also your reply packets need to be called grab when uploaded.

    I use a command like this to download via ftp..

    get grab trmb.qwk (or trmb.sa1)

    And a command like this to upload reply packets..

    put trmb.rep (or trmb.new) grab

    Just for my information (and maybe others), and the fact that I've never seen it before: What does "grab" do? And in what version of ftp are you using that includes that command/option?

    $ ftp --version
    ftp (GNU inetutils) 2.8
    $ ftp
    help
    Commands may be abbreviated. Commands are:

    ! dir macdef proxy site
    $ disconnect mdelete sendport size
    account epsv4 mdir put status
    append form mget pwd struct
    ascii get mkdir quit system
    bell glob mls quote sunique
    binary hash mode recv tenex
    bye help modtime reget trace
    case idle mput rstatus type
    cd image newer rhelp user
    cdup ipany nmap rename umask
    chmod ipv4 nlist reset verbose
    close ipv6 ntrans restart ?
    cr lcd open rmdir
    delete lpwd passive runique
    debug ls prompt send

    grab is the filename when using ftp. It's not an ftp command and you won't ever see it outside of BBBS.

    In BBBS downloading offline mail is called grabbing, you need to set your grab format to QWK or BW. Even your uploaded reply packet needs to be called "grab" (when using ftp) or BBBS won't process it.

    My initial intend was to access to BBBS message base... but it is clear to me that's not will be possible until:

    - BlueMail works again against BBBS message base.
    - GoldED+ extends its capabilities in this direction.

    I will check the first option. :-)

    I checked the app and the patch is working. Now bluemail only acts as a reader, it creates a reply script that posts your messages to bbbs. Thsat breaks reply strings etc. But I guess it is a start

    I have bluemail on my github and will upload the test in a few days

    This was read directly in bluemail and then the reply uses the bmuncoll app that comes with bluemail. I think it maybe impossible to write directly to bbbs message base. But it works
